2010s - Present
The Alaska
A monumental luxury lodge. The Alaska is one of Lissett’s most iconic and sought-after models, offering massive internal proportions, a rugged yet highly refined exterior, and uncompromising build quality.
The History of the Alaska
The Alaska was built for buyers who wanted the ultimate woodland or lakeside retreat without sacrificing a single residential comfort. It is famous across the industry for its incredibly thick walls, superior insulation, and bespoke, hand-crafted interior cabinetry.
Inside, it feels like a five-star alpine hotel. The expansive open-plan living area usually features a stunning vaulted ceiling, premium natural wood finishes, and massive feature windows designed to bring the outside in.
🔍 The Spotter's Guide: How to identify an Alaska
- Premium Cladding: Typically finished in extremely high-quality cedar or CanExel cladding, giving it a robust, premium lodge appearance.
- Massive Glazing: Features vast, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and heavy-duty sliding doors across the front elevation.
- Substantial Roofline: A prominent, overhanging pitched roof designed to provide deep shade and weather protection for the front decking.
🛠️ Inspector's Notes: Buyer's Tips & Known Quirks
- Heavyweight Build: Lissett homes are incredibly heavy due to their solid build quality. Ensure the park's base and the unit's jack-stands have been properly maintained to support the weight!
- Bespoke Cabinetry: Lissett builds their own furniture in-house. Check the bespoke kitchen and bedroom units; they are usually vastly superior to standard park home flat-packs.
- Wood Maintenance: If the Alaska features real cedar cladding, ensure it has been treated regularly to maintain its rich color, otherwise it will weather to a natural silver-grey.
